Darcel Brown is the Founder/CEO of Believe in Me Mentoring Academy. His path to this significant position is both encouraging and compelling.

Darcel saw a need for change in his community at a young age. He ran for a seat on the Ecorse City Council and became the youngest African American to serve as Mayor Pro-Tempore. His ambitions were heightened when he was elected the youngest African-American mayor of his city. Simultaneously he was employed by the Wayne County Commission as the Legislative Research Assistant.  He was later appointed as the  Chief Assistant to the Deputy County Executive  by Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans.

Darcel attributes his success to influential mentors and role models; men and women who shared their knowledge and pointed him toward a brighter tomorrow. Today, his mission is to provide young people the motivation and tools they need to achieve their goals, live productive lives, and also be catalysts to flourishing, prospering communities. He faithfully lives by this motto: “Don’t wait for change, be the change.”
